THE PROSERIES TOUR CLOSES IN MONDELLO
SUCCESS FOR FABIO DIEZ AND GIORGIA CUTI FROM PALERMO
The first regional Libertas trophy won by Aiuto and Burriesci from
Trapani.
The 2006 “King of the Beach” is awarded to Fabio Diez from Spain. The
“Queen of the Beach” title is given to only player from Palermo on the
board, Giorgia Cuti. The surprise haven’t stopped in these past few days
of the Pro-series Tournament held in Mondello for the World festival on
the Beach. In the men’s category the Spanish player Fabio Diez, who was
one of the favourites, was back in play after Piero Antonini dropped out
of the game. This made Diez play in the final game making him the
champion.
In today’s last match Diez-Vesti beat Lah-Tschudi with two sets to zero.
Diez missed his last match in the tournament after his team mate Martins
dropped out of the match due to an injury, he had won all the matches he
played in.
In the women’s a great joy for the athlete from Palermo Giorgia Cuti,
who won the tournament. The player played
brilliantly today after playing in a team with Elisa Folco and Noemy
Gizzi, making her winner of the “Queen of the Beach” title.
In the central court it was full of spectators for the 1st regional
Libertas trophy, held this morning. The title went to Fabio Aiuto and
Raffaele Burriesci from Trapani, after dominating the match they had
against the team from Palermo, Ferro-Girolando, to 2 sets to 1.
Third place went to the team from Palermo, Garofolo-La Rosa, who beat
the team from Agrigento Vell-Rizzo, 2 sets to 1.
