THE PROSERIES TOURNAMENT CONTINUES TO REVEAL SURPRISES
ANTONINI IN THE FINAL MATCH WITH THE FAVOURITE DIEZ OUT OF THE GAME.

The males scoreboard is underlined in the Proseries Beach
Volley Tournament at the World Festival on the Beach, on a beach full of
sunbathers visitors, spectators and beach volley fans. The “King of the
Beach” title sees continuously changing teams, who play amongst each
other and the winner is awarded to the player who has the most points.
In the two days of the male tournament we already know the name of the
winners who will have the possibility of playing in the final match. In
round A the Italian Buragina nearly qualified but not having scored
enough points couldn’t play on to the next stage, which was taken by the
Slovenian Lah and the Swiss Tschudi.
In round B, an unexpected event changed the matches to be held, and so,
therefore changed the final results. In yesterdays last match, the
Brazilian had to leave the match because of a muscle injury during the
third set which he was playing in a pair with the Swiss guy Vesti. So
Antonini and Diaz were the ones in benefiting from this injury, which
didn’t allow the Brazilian athlete to take part in today’s games. The
Olympic athlete from Spain, Fabio Diez couldn’t take part in the match
he was to play with Martins making him out of the final rounds.
Qualifying for the finals are Bernhard Vesti and the Italian Piero
Antonino who will play against the other two athletes who qualify, and
who will all be inserted in a round of three matches.
The female tournament took place today with a victory in the first match
for Giorgia Cuti from Palermo, and Luna Pietrucci, who beat in two sets
Folco – Gizz, to 22-20 and 23-21. Tonight and tomorrow other games will
be held to determine who will win the “Queen of the Beach” title.
