		Windsurf: Mistral Class
TOMORROW THE EUROPEAN WINDSURF CHAMPIONSHIPS BEGIN IN MONDELLO
		WITH CHINESE THAIS AND KOREANS
CHAMPIONS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD “HEAT THEIR ENGINES UP”

Mondello has entered in full swing of the World Festival on the Beach,
the weighing in procedure of the surf tables and sails is being
completed of all those athletes who will be taking part in the European
Mistral Class Championships. An event that is normally presented as an
open event, or to be more precise open to athletes from other continents
who will probably not make it to the podium but will definitely make the
races that are in program more competitive and spectacular. In today’s
trial race 5 athletes from the Hong Kong team stood out, but maybe to
avoid bad luck didn’t want to cut the winning post. Behind them followed
the Italian Marco Casagrande. First to come through the winning post was
		the Greek Souloutsidakis.

A European Championship that seems more like a World Championships with
all the Asian representatives, with three fierce teams that come from
Hong Kong, Thailand and Korea, a tangible sign that the passion for this
sport remains intact and the need to carry it out properly, choosing if
there is the need to technicians from historic windsurf schools, such as
the Belgian guy Rene Appel who works with the Hong Team team, for the
moment he is absent and is being substituted by a new technician Bruce
Kendall, Olympic champion from New Zealand. The Olympics in Beijing
aren’t that far away, therefore representing a compelling and critical
factor in the development of the movement in south-east Asia. The
Italian, Riccardo Giordano will be away, he won’t be taking part in
these championships as he is already engaged in the ISAF games in
Austria, Paco Wirz another historical made in Italy athlete will take
his place in making sure the Italians come in at a good position.

Mondello now awaits the beginning of the “unfriendly attitudes” due to
take place at 2pm on Monday the 15th of May, for the athletes who will
take part in the inspection of their material to be assessed and to be
put before the judges. Everyone must respect the standard measurements
of the One Design table, protagonist of the Olympics held Athens in
2004: 372cm in length, 63,5cm thick, 235 ltrs in volume and a weight of
		15,5kg.
